August 3rd 2020:
– MWV’s first Eid Drive Thru Celebration Event at Vellore Village Community Centre
August 30th 2020:
– Back to School Backpack Giveaway Event at Mackenzie Glen Park
September 14th 2020:
– Support provided for seniors, new immigrants, refugees, those with low incomes, and those hit by Covid-19
September 24th 2020:
– MVW was showcased in the Vaughan Citizen newspaper for the Back to School Backpack Giveaway Event and was recognized for their generous impact to the community
September 27th – October 18th 2020:
– Humanity Food Drive in support of Vaughan Food Bank
October 19th 2020:
– Muslim Women of Vaughan proudly donated 1500lbs of food along with a $515.00 cheque to Vaughan Food Bank
October 21st 2020:
– MWV begun to host series of zoom sessions for seniors on how to deal with Covid-19
November 3rd 2020:
– Received a certificate from the Vaughan Food Bank for MWV’s support during the pandemic
November 4th 2020:
– Hosted a virtual discussion on awareness of Mental Health for Women which was led by R.N. Cheema
November 9th 2020:
– Muslim Women of Vaughan hosted a zoom session for kids which included childrens stories and tales from a grandmothers perspective. They were narrated by Ms. Dilshad Khan
November 13th – December 11th 2020:
– MWV begun to participate in the City of Vaughan 2020 Toy Food Drive to support those in need during the holiday season
November 25th 2020:
– Virtual session about dental care for older adults during the new Covid-19 era hosted by Dr. Ayesha Jabeen
November 27th 2020:
– Attended a virtual Anti-Racism Information Session hosted by Deb Schulte
December 2nd 2020:
– Hosted a virtual workshop for coping with stress and anxiety during Covid-19 for youth
December 12th 2020:
– Muslim Women of Vaughan hosted another zoom session for kids which included childrens stories and tales from a grandmothers perspective. They were narrated by Ms. Dilshad Khan
December 17th 2020:
– Virtual zoom session hosted by psychiatrist Dr. Sadia Gilani regarding Dementia and Depression in seniors during Covid-19
2021
January 10th 2021:
– Muslim Women of Vaughan worked with Aamir Amla to host a financial planning session for seniors during Covid-19
January 23rd 2021:
– Muslim Women of Vaughan hosted another zoom session for kids which included childrens stories and tales from a grandmothers perspective. They were narrated by Ms. Dilshad Khan
February 13th 2021:
– Rommana Captain, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator worked with MWV to present a zoom session on healthy diet tips
March 8th 2021:
– Celebrated International Women’s Day together and worked together to fight for gender equality and continue to do so
March 13th 2021:
– Stephen Lecce and Anna Roberts reached out to meet with Muslim Women fo Vaughan and together we discussed the future of Vaughan’s citizens
March 14th 2021:
– MWV worked with Renu, and entrepreneur to host a Self Improvement Workshop for all ages
April 19th 2021:
– Muslim Women of Vaughan dekivered countless number of baskets to our community during the month of Ramadan as we were not able to have a Iftar Drive Thru
April 21st 2021:
– Hina Zahid, one of the directors for Muslim Women of Vaughan, was awarded the City of Vaughan Volunteer Recgonition Award for all her amazing efforts
April 30th 2021:
– MWV received a generous donation from Stephen Lecce to go towards our Eid Candy Drive
May 2nd 2021:
– Celebrated Mother’s Day and hosted a virtual giveaway to give back to all our supporters
May 6th 2021:
– Attended a virtual iftar gathering hosted by the Federal Muslim Caucus to celbrate the month of Ramadan and joined many guests across the country including Justin Trudeau
May 13th 2021:
– Despite the pandemic, MWV achieved the goal to give local children some treats to celebrate Eid
May 14th 2021:
– Attended the Virtual Eid Event along with different muslim organizations which was organized by Deb Schulte
June 10th 2021:
– Muslim Women of Vaughan organized a community walk in solidarity with London, Ontario as well as the muslim community. There was an excellent turnout and signs with messages of solidarity were also brought
June 20th 2021:
– MWV celebrated Father’s Day and gave away T-shirts to many fathers from different communities
July 1st 2021:
– MVW took this holiday to stand with Indigenous communities in their grief and sorrow during this Canada Day
July 13th 2021:
– Muslim Women of Vaughan has begun to create monthly newsletters that go out on our social media to keep our audience informed and up to date on all of the events of the month
July 20th 2021:
– MWV hosted our 2nd Drive Thru Eid Event at Vellore Village Community Centre to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha. We had some special guests including Ward Councillors Rosanna DeFrancesca and Francesco Sorbara as well as Marilyn Ifrate join us on this special day!
